4. The appeal to the audience when Steed is walking around the abandoned airfield gives them a sense of nostalgia as this tv programme came out 20 years after the war. Audiences will recognise the actor who plays Steed as a man who fought in the war, reassuring the audience that he can save the town just like the soldiers saved Britain in WW2. The audience will feel emotion towards this scene and its quite meaningful because it celebrates the remembrance of the soldiers who fought in the war. 

5. She has her own income by publishing articles, she wears a modern catsuit and she owns her own flat as a single independent woman, 

6. POV shot used to show that Emma Peel's bags are in fact still at the hotel after Piggy Warren lied saying she left, making him seem untrustworthy. 

7. Stereotypes are inverted here as Emma is teaching Steed about the Invasion and he is seen sitting down whereas she is standing up, towering above him. This makes her seem the one in the authoritative position rather than Steed, this is atypical to the Social stereotypes.

8. She's independent as she tells Steed to get his own cream for the tes, smart as she has a job on the side of being a secret agent and strong as she fights Steed whilst fencing. 

Cuffs

9. In this scene, non diegetic sound is used to create tension and suspense as the opening scene of Cuffs plays, introducing what the show is about. The pace quickens as the apprehension during the scene also rises. Its used to create emotion and to show you that this tv show is going to be fast paced and in-depth about what the Police face everyday. The sound is a symbolic use to convey the pressure and real life experience in work for the police force.

12. We can recognise that Cuffs is a modern tv show as we see people from different ethnicity's, cultures, religions and sexualitities. This is a contrast to The Avengers as both the lead roles are straight and white.

Aim to link your analysis to The Avengers as a spy/ crime drama: thrilling chases, deadly fights, terrifying bloodhounds, sly enemy agents, high production values like filming in Norfolk, the comedy of the train journey, tense after-dark recces

• Audiences  enjoy the social relationships (we share the characters' values & see things from their point of view; The Avengers provided a talking point as it was innovative, amusing and thrilling, with Peel providing both glamour in her pin-up qualities and a role model as a new woman); audiences enjoy sharing pleasures with friends & family, like watching TV together
